The traffic police will conduct a set of preventive measures "Drunkards have no place on the road!"

From March 4 to March 9, 2022, a comprehensive preventive campaign "No Drunk Driving!" will be held in the Republic of Belarus, aimed at preventing and suppressing instances of driving by intoxicated drivers, as well as violations of traffic regulations by intoxicated vulnerable road users.

Almost everyone talks about alcohol abuse and drunkenness, except for the lazy and those completely indifferent to the problem of alcoholism. Medical professionals emphasize the detrimental effects on health, psychologists discuss the general impact on personality. The State Automobile Inspectorate focuses on the consequences of drunk driving. Almost daily, the media report on road accidents occurring in the country involving an intoxicated driver or a vulnerable road user.

The State Automobile Inspectorate calls for discipline and responsibility from drivers. Every driver must understand that as soon as they get behind the wheel, they automatically bear responsibility for other road users. As strange as it may sound, a person behind the wheel must be alert and ready to react quickly to changing circumstances. There are dozens of such situations on the road: a pedestrian is lost in thought and starts crossing the roadway in an unauthorized place, a child runs out from behind a parked vehicle, an elderly person does not notice an approaching vehicle. If a driver is focused, they will take measures for emergency braking. If the brain is clouded by alcohol, there are practically no chances of a miracle.

To make roads safer and to eliminate alcohol from them, the desire and aspiration of all our citizens are important. Do not remain indifferent or uninvolved. If you know or suspect that an intoxicated driver is behind the wheel, dial "102". You might save someone's life, perhaps even that of a loved one.

In accordance with Article 18.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus:

- driving a vehicle by a person in a state of alcoholic intoxication, with an absolute ethyl alcohol content in the blood or exhaled air in a concentration of up to 0.8 per milleup to 380 micrograms of absolute ethyl alcohol per litre of exhaled air inclusive shall incur a fine of one hundred basic units with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of three years;

- driving a vehicle by a person in a state of alcoholic intoxication, with absolute ethyl alcohol in blood or exhaled air at a concentration exceeding 0.8 per mille or with absolute ethyl alcohol vapours at a concentration exceeding 380 micrograms per litre of exhaled air, or in a state caused by the consumption of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances, as well as refusal to undergo, in the established manner, a check (examination) for determining the state of alcoholic intoxication or a state caused by the consumption of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances, shall incur a fine of two hundred basic units with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of five years.

- transferring the control of a vehicle to a person in a state of alcoholic intoxication or in a state caused by the consumption of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances shall incur a fine from fifty to one hundred basic units with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of three years.

- consumption by a driver of alcoholic, low-alcohol beverages or beer, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances after a signal from an internal affairs officer to stop the vehicle or after being involved in a road traffic accident, prior to undergoing a check (examination) for determining the state of alcoholic intoxication or a state caused by the consumption of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances shall incur a fine of two hundred basic units with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of five years.
