Currently, the traffic police do not recommend drivers to switch to summer tires, despite the fact that legally changing tires is not prohibited from March 1st.
Sub-zero temperatures at night and during the day, as well as other adverse weather conditions, negatively affect tire functionality, which can lead to dangerous situations on the road.
It is important to understand the main differences between winter and summer tires. The latter have a different composition that allows them to better withstand high temperatures. However, such tires harden at low temperatures and then do not provide adequate grip on the road surface. Even if the temperature outside is 0…+3 ℃, skidding and braking difficulties will occur.
The State Automobile Inspectorate advises waiting for warmer weather, when the temperature is positive both day and night (preferably not lower than +7 ℃), and only then changing the car's tires.
