Vitebsk Region Traffic Police Fined Over 140 Bus and Taxi Drivers in One Week

In the Vitebsk region, over 140 bus and taxi drivers have been brought to administrative responsibility for traffic violations within a week. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Yevgeny Masyutenko, Senior Inspector of the Registration and Examination Department of Technical and Road Supervision of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

"There has been a noticeable decrease in accidents involving irregular passenger carriers – buses and taxis," he clarified. "Since October 16, 141 violations by irregular passenger carriers have been recorded in the Vitebsk region. A large number of violations are committed by taxi drivers, including failure to yield to pedestrians, running red lights, speeding, violating intersection traffic rules, and using mobile phones while driving."
