"Lepelsky Krai" annually receives awards, in particular, from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus. This was also the case this year, just before the Day of the Fatherland Defenders and the Armed Forces of our country. Both sectoral ministries organised a solemn reception for the winners of the republican creative competition for the best coverage in the media of the issues of construction and development of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, and the patriotic education of the population. The event was given a special solemnity by the fact that the competition was held for the tenth time. A small anniversary. By the way, our district newspaper has been a laureate or nominee of this creative competition in the republic throughout this entire period.

Correspondents and creative teams of news agencies, editorial offices of periodic printed publications, and electronic mass media took part in the competition. A total of 112 applications were submitted. The number of prize-winning places is many times smaller. The selection of laureates was extremely meticulous and professional. To confirm this, let me remind you of the composition of the jury: Assistant to the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus – Head of the Main Ideological Work Directorate, Major General Alyaksandr Hura (Chairman), Head of the Directorate of Printed Mass Media and External Relations of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, Lyudmila Lazavik, First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper "Sovetskaya Belorussiya", Mikhail Lyabedzik, General Director of the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio, Anton Vasyukevich, General Director of the Main Directorate of the Television News Agency of the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus, Ivan Eismont, Head of the Information Directorate – Press Secretary of the Main Ideological Work Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, Uladzimir Makaraŭ, and Consultant of the Directorate of Printed Mass Media and External Relations of the Ministry of Information, Fyodar Ramashka.

Media representatives are permanent participants in events held within the framework of modern military construction, — emphasized the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Andrei Ravkov, in his welcoming address. — It is symbolic that the awarding of the winners of the tenth creative competition is taking place on the eve of the Defender of the Fatherland and Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Belarus. When covering army life, the close attention of the country's journalistic corps is invariably focused on analytical, objective, and creative approaches. Thanks to the creativity of the winners of this competition and hundreds of other talented journalists, the image of the modern Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus is well known in our country and far beyond its borders.
Today, we have the right to speak about the high efficiency and effectiveness of cooperation between the Armed Forces and the media. More than four thousand publications in the print media, about two hundred hours of television and forty hours of radio airtime annually are dedicated to issues of the construction and development of the Armed Forces, people who have dedicated themselves to the cause of defending the Fatherland, and the patriotic education of the younger generation.

The Minister of Information, Lilia Ananich, noted the increased level of publications about army life, the patriotic education of the population, and the talented and multifaceted coverage of a wide range of topics. The second prize and diploma of the second degree were awarded to the editorial office of the district newspaper "Lepelsky Krai" for the special project "Zaslonovsky Garrison" and the deputy head of the AТN BTRC department, Alexander Smirnov, for the special project "Our 'Polonaise'". The Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper "Lepelsky Krai", Vladimir Shevchenko, received the high award from Lieutenant General A. Ravkov.

At the end, a concert by artists of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus took place.
