The Presidents of Belarus and Russia, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, set an example of honest discussion of any problems and finding solutions based on respect for the interests of a partner and ally. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with the TV channel "Belarus 1" on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, BELTA reports.
Speaking about the level of relations between Belarus and Russia, the minister said: "It is simply mutual respect and mutual aspiration, despite all the nuances. There are never 100% coincidences of positions on all issues in relations between any two countries. Despite all the nuances in approaches, I simply see how our presidents set an example of honest discussion of any problems, honest finding of solutions that will be based on respect for the interests of a partner and ally. And, of course, on advancing their own interests. That is, the search for that very balance of interests that makes any agreements sustainable and promising."
Sergey Lavrov recalled that the countries are currently implementing 28 union programs. He described them as reliable solutions that are being implemented at a fairly rapid pace. "And besides, we are allies, and alliance extends to all spheres of life, from military-political security, which we jointly ensure on the western flank of the CSTO. And here Belarus plays a key role. And continuing with the topics of economic interaction," he noted.
The minister considers the creation of equal conditions for both enterprises and citizens of Belarus and Russia to be the most important thing. "This is a fundamental point that allows Belarusians in Russia to always feel at home. And the same applies to Russians in Belarus," emphasized the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
