The eve of the New Year is a time when miracles happen and wishes come true. Children who, for one reason or another, have been left without parental care, especially look forward to the holiday with great anticipation.

— This is one of the most important events of the year; it is necessary to congratulate children who find themselves in difficult life situations so that they believe in something bright and noble, — noted Alexander Mikhailovich. — I wish the children the fulfillment of all their desires in the New Year.

– Currently, there are 70 children in the Vitebsk Children's Home, – reported the Director of the educational institution, Natalia Kultenko. – Of course, they dream of finding a family. This year, 60 of our wards have found one: 10 children were adopted, 18 returned to their families (parental rights were restored for one), guardianship was established over 21 children, and 9 were placed in family-type children's homes. This performance indicator is the best in the republic and has been stable for the last 5-6 years. All this is thanks to the program for the deinstitutionalisation of orphans – their placement in foster families, which was initiated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.

For all the guests of the event, the pupils and teachers of the educational institution prepared a magical fairy tale where good triumphs over evil, and peace, mutual understanding, and love reign. There were also lively round dances, songs, and numerous gifts. Alexander Subbotin presented documents for new televisions, an acoustic system, and a vacuum cleaner; the Chairman of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies, Vladimir Beleevich, presented a certificate for the purchase of furniture; the Head of the Administration of the Oktyabrsky District of Vitebsk, Yuri Panfilov, presented documents for a new refrigerator.

The children presented the head of the region with a handmade gift – a tiger cub. All guests also received the symbol of the year.
