The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Aleksandr Subbotin, discussed the progress of implementing the Cooperation Agreement signed between the regions last year with Alisher Zakirov, Deputy Khokim of the Kashkadarya Region of Uzbekistan.

The agreement pertains to the trade-economic, scientific-technical, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

Welcoming the Uzbek guest, Aleksandr Subbotin stated that his visit to the XI International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects," currently underway in Vitebsk, is further evidence of the seriousness of their intentions. During last year's visit of the Vitebsk Region delegation to Uzbekistan, several breakthrough areas beneficial to both sides were identified.

Alisher Zakirov reported that the Kashkadarya Region is interested in the supply of veterinary drugs, baby food, and wastewater treatment systems. He also pointed out the need to develop tourism exchange, which is currently at a very low level. For instance, last year, only 50 tourists from Belarus visited the Kashkadarya Region, despite the proximity of historical sites such as Samarkand and Bukhara. Alisher Zakirov proposed organising mutual informational familiarisation tours for tourism service operators.

The Uzbek side also expressed interest in school furniture and varieties of oil flax, the fibre of which is planned to be added to cotton in fabric production. One of the woodworking firms has prepared a technological proposal for the supply of structures for building wooden houses.

Alisher Zakirov presented Aleksandr Subbotin with a gift from the Khokim of the Kashkadarya Region, Murotjon Azimov.
