The volume of apples placed in the stabilisation funds of the Vitebsk region has been increased by 2.6 times. Approximately 19,000 tonnes of potatoes, vegetables, and fruits are planned to be placed in the stabilisation funds of the northern region for the inter-seasonal period. The placement norms have been formed to fully meet the needs of the domestic market and correspond to the volumes calculated by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. These calculations were carried out by the department based on statistical data from the previous three years on sales of domestic and imported crop products by trade and public catering organisations. "The volumes of potatoes and vegetables from the 2022 harvest placed in storage are practically at the same level as in the previous inter-seasonal period. In particular, it is planned to store over 7.6 thousand tonnes of potatoes, over 3.2 thousand tonnes of cabbage, about 1.4 thousand tonnes of carrots, over 1.9 thousand tonnes of onions, and 830 tonnes of beetroot. The volume of apples placed in the stabilisation funds has been increased by 2.6 times and amounts to almost 4,000 tonnes," explained Irina Levkovich.
She added that supplies of fruit and vegetable products to trade facilities in the Vitebsk region will be carried out in accordance with contracts. Residents of the region will also be able to purchase vegetables, fruits, and other goods at agricultural fairs. Over 2,000 places have been created at markets of various forms of ownership for these purposes. In addition, executive committees have identified about 300 additional sites. These are trading places in cities, district centres, large settlements, as well as sites located along roads.
