The solemn award ceremony took place today at the Palace of Independence. The Head of State noted that it is held on the eve of the most sacred holiday for Belarusians - Victory Day.
According to him, on these days, the ceremony of honoring the best workers of the country is filled with special meaning, because the front-line feat of Soviet soldiers would have been impossible without the titanic work in the rear and especially after the war.
"We must always remember this and tell the generations that follow us," the President emphasized. "After all, who were these people whom we call rear workers today? Mostly women, the elderly, and teenagers. It was on their shoulders that the entire burden of work in the fields and factories fell," said Alexander Lukashenko.
He stressed that the people of the war generation managed to evacuate thousands of factories to the east in a short period and organize the production of shells, tanks, and aircraft. "They literally lived in workshops, worked to exhaustion. They gave their last to ensure that the soldiers of our army were armed, fed, clothed, and shod," the President noted.
Alexander Lukashenko recalled how after the war, the Western press predicted at least a quarter of a century for the country to fully recover. "But our older generation rebuilt cities and villages more beautifully than before in literally two five-year periods. They also built factories and plants, whose work collectives you represent today and which Belarus is proud of - BELAZ, MTZ, Minsk Motor Plant, restored Gomselmash. Yes, it is we who have modernized them, updated equipment and introduced new technologies, but the foundations and traditions were laid by our fathers and grandfathers, who created entire schools that other countries cannot replicate today," the Belarusian leader pointed out.
"On the eve of Victory Day, I will say again: honor and glory to all veterans of war and labor! A deep bow for their front-line and labor feats," said the Head of State.
In his opinion, some analogies can be drawn between the events of wartime and the challenges Belarus is currently facing. However, back then the enemy was obvious and visible, whereas now the situation is more complex, as the opposition is to hidden forces. "Today we do not see them, they are deeply hidden and act by Jesuit methods, which we sometimes do not know, and we have to reorient ourselves on the move," the President noted. "Against the backdrop of the global COVID pandemic, another virus was attempted to be introduced into our society – the virus of self-destruction. But the overwhelming majority of Belarusians understand what heroic generation they are heirs to. And no one will ever be able to take away our right to live and work freely in our native country," the President stated.
The Head of State thanked the leaders of work collectives for quickly understanding last year the abyss into which destructive forces wanted to push Belarus. "We have drawn conclusions. The main support of the state was and always will be the working person: the worker, the agronomist, the engineer, the designer, the manager. Everyone who is employed in the real sector of the economy," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
The President reiterated his assertion that the foundation of Belarusian statehood, the successful development of the country and the prosperity of the people is relentless creative work for the benefit of society. "Only labor can ensure our independence and sovereignty, which we sometimes speak of in vain, not understanding the essence and price of it. One can only earn money on the internet when one has grown up on the land, in a factory, at a plant. This is an axiom that any Belarusian aiming for professional success should know from childhood. Just as you know and understand it. People for whom creation has become the meaning and work of their entire lives," noted the Belarusian leader.
"Today, state awards have been presented to industrialists, builders, transport workers, agricultural workers, engineers, teachers, cultural figures. As well as a whole group of valiant officers of the State Security Committee, who do everything to ensure that our citizens can live, work and raise children peacefully under a peaceful sky," the President continued.
According to him, the uniformed personnel have recently been able to prove that they are not eating their bread in vain. "Yes, it was quiet, calm for a quarter of a century. Then they decided to test us. And the uniformed personnel went ahead, which is natural," said the head of state. "And I must say that they rose to the occasion."
"For what merits we honor them today, our Chekists, military personnel, I think, does not need to be explained today, and in many areas it is not yet possible. Thanks to our media, these events are on everyone's lips. I am sincerely glad that I have the opportunity to personally thank all of you for your significant contribution to the development of Belarus," added Alexander Lukashenko.
The head of state congratulated the ceremony participants on their well-deserved awards and wished them health, peace, kindness, and new achievements for the benefit of the Fatherland. "May the solemn atmosphere that prevails in this hall inspire you to new accomplishments, and may your successes be an example for others. First of all, for the energetic, creative, ambitious youth," said the Belarusian leader.
The Order of Labour Glory was awarded to Vasily Markevich, General Director of OJSC "Pticefabrika "Druzhba", Sergey Lyutov, setter of machine tools and manipulators with programmed control of BELAZ, and also to workers of Minsk Tractor Works: Petr Babok, operator of machine tools with programmed control, Tatyana Zhibul, painter, Leonid Samusevich, head of the tractor assembly department.
A group of workers from enterprises in the agro-industrial and industrial sectors was awarded the Order of Honour. The head of state presented this award, in particular, to Petr Lavnikov, Director of OJSC "Oktyabr" of Mstislavsky district, Vladimir Malinovskiy, head of the "Diana" farm of Shklovsky district, Ivan Rynyak, Director of the communal agricultural unitary enterprise "Niva-Barsuki" of Kirovsky district, Andrey Stasilevich, General Designer of the MTZ Scientific and Technical Center.
In a solemn ceremony, the President also presented diplomas for the conferment of honorary titles. Among those who received diplomas were Naum Galperovich, Honored Figure of Culture, Deputy Director - Head of the Department of Musical and Literary-Artistic Programs of the Directorate of the "Culture" channel of Belarusian Radio of the National State Television and Radio Company; Frantsishak Vismont, Honored Scientist, Head of the Department of Pathological Physiology of the Belarusian State Medical University; Vladimir Deshko, Honored Builder, Deputy Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee; Gennady Kuchko, Honored Worker of Agriculture, Director of OJSC "Narochanskie zori"; Vitaly Vovk, Honored Industrial Worker, General Director of MTZ; and Alexander Voytenkov, Director of the "Display" Design Bureau.
