19 April, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The main venue for the republican subbotnik in Vitebsk will be the Park of Heroes. Approximately 1,000 people will be involved in its improvement on April 21, the Department of Ideological Work of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The Park of Heroes adjoins the memorial to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War – soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters, erected on Victory Square. Work on the creation of the park began in 2011. Despite the fact that the landscaping is not yet complete, recreation in the park is becoming increasingly popular among citizens and city guests, which is why the city authorities have decided to focus their main efforts on this site. On the day of the subbotnik, curbs will be installed, tiles will be laid, and lawns will be arranged at this venue. Employees of the city's enterprises and organizations, as well as members of the BRSM, will assist the builders and landscapers. The city administration has made sure that subbotnik participants can have a bite to eat – tea, coffee, pies, and sandwiches will be sold in the summer cafe. Citizens will also participate in cleaning the territories of the Park of Culture and Recreation named after the Red Army, the flood plain of the Vitba River, the riverbank of the Western Dvina in the central part of the city, and will tidy up the "Marko-City" shopping and entertainment complex, which is preparing to open. The grounds of two kindergartens will also become a place for volunteers to apply their efforts. It is expected that 112.3 thousand people will take part in the subbotnik.
