Bagpipers from Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Portugal will gather for the celebration of the duda (an ancient instrument similar to the bagpipe). The three-day program includes concerts, parties, exhibitions, and a solemn service in the church. The duda will be the main focus of all events.
This year's festival will be held under the banner of the renowned native Ignat Buyanitsky. Festival participants will visit the birthplace of the founder of the first professional Belarusian theatre in the village of Prozorki. The district executive committee explained that the festival's name is taken from the poetic lines of Yanka Kupala dedicated to Ignat Buyanitsky.
Incidentally, it is known that a bagpiper named Adam Shulga was part of Buyanitsky's troupe.
The Glubokoye district has undertaken the revival of the tradition of playing the duda. "Dudarski Rey" also serves this purpose: festival participants will conduct master classes and share the secrets of their art with young residents of Glubokoye.
The first festival was organized in 2017. At that time, bagpipers from seven countries came to Glubokoye.
