1 January, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The Year of Thrift will contribute to the growth of people's quality of life. This viewpoint was expressed in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets. The Year of Thrift began in the Vitebsk region back in 2012. The most important tasks for the region's economy were the reduction of material resources and energy saving. In 2012, the region managed to achieve an energy saving indicator of minus 5%, and reduce material intensity by 3.4%. In the current year, declared the Year of Thrift, even greater attention will be paid to resource conservation, because this will positively affect the entire economy as a whole, and primarily influence wage growth, the governor emphasized. In 2013, the region has set an ambitious goal - to achieve an average monthly wage of $750 in equivalent terms by December. According to Alexander Kosinets, this goal is achievable. The region has enormous potential in industry, in the construction sector, and in the agro-industrial complex. It is necessary to create and sell innovative products, double labor productivity, establish order everywhere, train personnel, and tighten accountability, he said. "By utilizing these reserves, by being thrifty with resources, we will achieve the most important thing - an improvement in the quality of life: life expectancy, family well-being, so that a person can proudly say - I am a citizen of the Republic of Belarus," said Alexander Kosinets.-0-
