The district competition for young poets is not being held for the first time and, one might say, has already become a tradition. This year, the competition was held in the context of the Year of the Book and was directly related to the anniversaries of literary classics Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas. About fifty young talents took part in the competition, and twenty-seven participants became laureates.
The organizers of the competition – the youth department of the district executive committee, the CDT, the literary and musical club "Vytok", and presenter Alena Makarenka – did not set the task of identifying "a new Pushkin or Kupala". The main goal of the competition was to awaken children's and adolescents' interest in creativity and to make them think about human values. Therefore, the poems that were submitted to the competition were diverse, both in terms of thematic focus and literary level.
All participants of the competition received diplomas, certificates, and gifts. In addition, a pleasant gift for each author of the best poem may be their participation in the regional stage of the "My Cradle Belarus" competition, for which materials will be sent to Vitebsk before the end of this month.
