12 July, Lepel /Own. inf./. The Belarusian Book Festival, held in Borovka, attracted many participants and guests. Librarians of the district, participants of the literary and musical club "Vytok" of the district House of Culture gathered at the local Centre of Culture and Leisure. The audience was filled with the noisy, ringing voices of children and teenagers who are holidaying at the Borovka summer camp and recuperating at the "Zhemchuzhina" children's rehabilitation centre.
Guests also arrived – members of the Union of Writers of Belarus, Tamara Krasnova-Gusachenko and Boris Belyazhenko.
The festival programme included the literary and musical composition "Pesniary of the 'Land under White Wings'", and the campaign "Let's Read Together, Let's Read in Belarusian!". A "Merry Bookmobile" with fairy tales, poems, and adventures awaited the young readers, along with a quiz "Belarusian Fairy Tale – a Wise Hint" and a competition and game programme "An Interesting Journey through Bookograd".
Special book exhibitions were organised for the holiday: "Her Majesty the Book", "Beloved Lines of Poetry", "Autographed Book", which told about meetings with famous writers at the library, "Belarusian Books – Anniversaries of 2012", and others. The results of the "Reader's Ribbon" campaign were summed up, during which a "wonderful tree" was created, to which each participant could attach their own branch after reading a Belarusian book.
Festival participants and guests read poems, exchanged views on the literary process, and expressed their attitude towards Belarusian books. An expressive dialogue with the restless children's audience took place – a dialogue of generations.
The festival is timed to coincide with the Year of the Book and the anniversaries of our literary classics Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, and Maksim Tank.
