The Day of Belarusian Written Language should be held under the banner of the Year of the Book, the anniversaries of Belarusian classics and the upcoming 600th anniversary of Glubokoye. This point of view was expressed today at a meeting of the national organizing committee for the celebration by the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the national organizing committee Anatoly Tozik, BELTA correspondent reports. Anatoly Tozik called the fact that the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Glubokoye will be held in the Year of the Book, the year of the anniversaries of Yakub Kolas, Yanka Kupala, and Maxim Tank, a significant coincidence. "It is necessary that these themes be deeply and thoroughly worked out and reflected in the concept of the holiday," he instructed. Another notable date, which should also be taken into account by the organizers of the holiday, according to Anatoly Tozik, should be the 600th anniversary of Glubokoye, which will be celebrated in 2014. "The Day of Written Language is an opportunity for Glubokoye to present the upcoming anniversary and the next stage of preparation for it," he added. The head of the organizing committee supported the idea of the local authorities to perpetuate the memory of famous natives of Glubokoye region. As reported by the Chairman of the Glubokoye District Executive Committee Oleg Morhat, it is planned to install busts in Glubokoye to the founder of the Belarusian theater Ignatiy Buyanitsky, the creator of the state language of Israel - Hebrew Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, Iosif Drozdovich - an artist and folklorist, Hero of the Soviet Union Petr Kozlov, general designer of aviation equipment Pavel Sukhoi, Vaclav Lastovsky - a writer, historian, first director of the National Museum. Answering journalists' questions after the meeting of the organizing committee, Anatoly Tozik noted the great work done by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Glubokoye District Executive Committee and republican ministries and departments in preparation for the Day of Belarusian Written Language. He expressed confidence that the upcoming holiday will be held at a high organizational level and will be remembered by the residents of Glubokoye and guests of the city. At the meeting of the national organizing committee, a draft program of main events was presented, and the progress of preparation of objects of the social and cultural sphere of the district center was discussed.
