Since the beginning of the summer season, the traffic police have been ensuring public order and road safety in places of mass recreation. For this purpose, additional traffic patrol service crews have been deployed closer to recreational areas and water bodies.
Police officers are paying attention to compliance with stopping and parking regulations for vehicles. Unlicensed drivers and intoxicated road users are under special scrutiny.
We remind you that from March 1, 2021, the new Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus came into force, according to which administrative measures for drunk driving have been tightened. The new Code also provides for a gradation of driver's alcohol intoxication. Thus, for persons driving a vehicle while intoxicated, with an absolute ethyl alcohol content in the blood or exhaled air in a concentration of up to 0.8 per mille inclusive, a fine of 100 base units will be imposed, with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 3 years. Above 0.8 per mille – a fine of 200 base units, with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 5 years.
If you know or suspect that an intoxicated driver is behind the wheel, dial "102". You may save someone's life, perhaps even that of a loved one.
