On the days preceding and during the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Vitebsk region will conduct a set of preventive measures aimed at preventing and suppressing road traffic accidents caused by drivers and pedestrians in a state of intoxication, drivers without a driving license, as well as at suppressing violations by drivers of two-wheeled vehicles. Drivers violating speed limits will also not be overlooked.

Drivers violating speed limits will also not be overlooked.

Since the beginning of the year, over 1329 drunk drivers have been apprehended in the Vitebsk region, along with 3141 drivers without a driving license. Speed limits were violated by 9494 drivers.

Driving a vehicle while intoxicated is punishable by a substantial fine. The amount depends on the driver's level of intoxication. "The first level is from 0.3 to 0.8 per mille inclusive. For this, a penalty of 100 base units and deprivation of the right to drive for three years is envisaged. If the degree of intoxication is higher, the fine will be 200 base units, and the driving license will be revoked for 5 years.

For driving a vehicle by a person who does not have a license for this vehicle, as well as for transferring control to such a person, administrative responsibility from 5 to 20 base units is provided. For the same actions committed repeatedly within one year after the imposition of an administrative penalty – from 20 to 50 base units, community service of 8-60 hours or administrative arrest for up to 15 days are also possible.

Regarding speeding, if a driver accelerates and exceeds the permitted speed by 30–40 kilometers, they will receive a fine of 3 to 10 base units. If the speed is even higher, the fine will be from 8 to 12 base units.
