The State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora will launch a mobile application for reporting violations. This was announced on ONT television channel by the Head of the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora under the President of Belarus, Sergey Novikov, according to BELTA.
The State Inspectorate involved specialists in the development of the mobile application. "Upon observing violations, the user will be able to record them and send them to our duty service. Consequently, the duty service will respond promptly and transmit the data to inspectors on the ground," said the head of the department. The application is planned to be launched in the near future. It will operate on the Android operating system, and subsequently on other OSs.
Sergey Novikov spoke about another innovation initiated by the State Inspectorate – electronic timber accounting. "The entire essence and meaning of this is to be able to track the movement of timber from the moment it is felled to the consumer, so that control is initially automated and so that an inspector can later check the legality of timber transportation on a computer," he explained. "Upon seeing a notification in the form of, for example, an electronic consignment note, an inspector could go out and check how legally the felling is carried out. The system will not be able to accept incorrect data or data that does not comply with legislation." The Head of the State Inspectorate noted that the digitization of the forest fund is almost complete.
Speaking about the results of the State Inspectorate's work over 15 years, Sergey Novikov emphasized that Belarusians have begun to treat nature in a completely different way. "Legal awareness has significantly increased. And it can be stated with absolute certainty that the trend towards a reduction in offenses is annual," said the head of the department.
