President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed to intensify work on the adoption of the state program for the development of culture for 2011-2015 in the near future. The Head of State set this task on August 10, while receiving a report from the Minister of Culture Pavel Latushko, BelTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian leader. According to Pavel Latushko, this program will create additional opportunities for the development of culture and art in Belarus in the next five-year period. The Head of State was informed about the results of the Ministry of Culture's work since June 2009, the time of Pavel Latushko's appointment as minister. The President was informed about the prospects for the further development of the pop music and film art sectors in Belarus. In the near future, it is planned to hold a meeting at the Head of State level with the participation of representatives of the creative intelligentsia, cultural figures, and film artists to thoroughly analyze the state and prospects of film art development in Belarus. The meeting also discussed the work of higher education institutions in the field of culture. Following the results of their inspection, the President instructed to intensify efforts to improve the educational process in them. The President supported several proposals from the Ministry of Culture. In particular, on the creation of a system of national preferences for the development of domestic culture and art. It is proposed to create more preferential tax regulations in Belarusian legislation, which would allow attracting more extra-budgetary funds for the development of the field of culture and art. Alexander Lukashenko approved the initiative to create a public council for the development of culture and art under the government, which will include both well-known figures of Belarusian culture and art, as well as representatives of talented youth. The Head of State also supported the proposal to establish a national theatre award.
