On December 11, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. The State Border Commission under the Council of Ministers has been established in Belarus, BelTA was informed by the State Border Committee of Belarus.
"The new body, established by a government resolution, is designed to coordinate the activities of commissions on state border policy of the border regional executive committees, as well as to facilitate the resolution of other issues related to ensuring the border security of Belarus," the State Border Committee noted.
The resolution approved the Regulations on the State Commission and its composition. The body is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin. It includes representatives of all interested republican government bodies, as well as the heads of border commissions in the regions. Commission members will participate in developing proposals for improving legislation in the border sphere, establishing border crossing points across the State Border, and addressing issues of social protection for employees of border service bodies, other bodies involved in guarding the State Border, and their families.
The first meeting of the commission is scheduled for the first quarter of 2013. The State Border Committee also added that a similar body has been successfully functioning in Russia for almost ten years.
