The state and the church are united in reviving the spirituality and high morality of the Belarusian people, said the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, addressing Orthodox believers with a Christmas greeting, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. The head of the regional executive committee took part in the festive service at the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk. "Christmas is a holiday of faith, love, and hope. God's laws teach us to work, do good, and love our Fatherland. The Orthodox Church fosters a kind attitude towards each other, opposes evil, and teaches love. The state and the church are united in reviving a spiritual and moral society," emphasized Alexander Kosinets. He also noted the role of the Orthodox Church in fostering a careful attitude towards family values among youth. The equality of confessions and nationalities in Belarus contributes to the stability and well-being of the people, Alexander Kosinets is confident. Currently, there are 537 religious communities of 17 confessions operating in the Vitebsk region, including 276 communities of the Orthodox Church. The region has 365 active places of worship belonging to various confessions, about a hundred of which are architectural monuments.
