On September 16, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. GPRS tracking of escorted persons is planned to be implemented in Belarus in 2011-2012. This was announced today to journalists by the Head of the Supervision and Enforcement Activities Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, Sergey Nikel, in Vitebsk at a republican training and methodological meeting dedicated to improving the service activities of internal affairs bodies for the protection and escort of persons in custody, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"The issue of implementing and using the technical innovation is currently being worked out, as there is no such experience in the practice of Belarusian escort units yet," emphasized Sergey Nikel. Widespread use of GPRS tracking of escorted persons is planned by 2013.
The Head of the Department also noted that the focus in the work of escort units in the coming years is on the material and technical improvement of the base. In addition, foreign experience is actively being introduced.
The republican training and methodological meeting, dedicated to improving the service activities of internal affairs bodies for the protection and escort of persons in custody, is taking place in Vitebsk on September 16-17 with the participation of deputy heads of the Supervision and Enforcement Activities Departments, senior inspectors of the Supervision and Enforcement Activities Departments overseeing the organization of work of special institutions and police escort units, heads of temporary detention facilities and commanders of escort units of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee and Internal Affairs Directorates of Regional Executive Committees – about 150 people in total. During the event, participants will practice theoretical and practical actions to prevent emergencies, the procedure for interaction with internal troops, and other issues related to service activities. The meeting is designed to increase the combat readiness of Belarus's escort units and the level of employee training. -0-
