Citizens will receive money for assisting in the fight against corruption, according to Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 101 of February 5, 2016, as reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian government.
"Payment of remuneration and other payments to an individual who contributes to the detection of corruption is made in cases of: provision of information, items, and documents that facilitated the detection of a corruption crime; provision of information on the whereabouts of a wanted person who committed a corruption crime; provision of information on the whereabouts of funds and other property obtained as a result of committing a corruption crime; assistance in preventing or compensating for damage caused by a corruption crime; rendering other assistance to criminal prosecution bodies that was significant for countering corruption crimes," the document states.
If the case involves a grave or especially grave crime, up to 50 base units will be paid; for a less grave crime, up to 30 base units. "Compensatory payments of up to 10 base units are made based on documents confirming expenses incurred by the individual," the document notes. Payment is appointed by the prosecutor's office based on a request from the criminal prosecution body when a decision is made on a criminal case submitted for referral to court, and in some other cases.
Individuals referred to here do not include military personnel or employees of state bodies and other organisations involved in combating corruption. The document's provisions also do not apply to participants in criminal proceedings. "Payment of remuneration and other payments is not made to individuals who assisted in the detection, suppression, disclosure, or investigation of a corruption crime in which they participated," the resolution emphasizes.
