Issues of implementing humanitarian projects and cooperation with foreign diplomatic missions were discussed at a meeting chaired by Viktor Azarenok, Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee. Representatives of various structures of our district took part in the event.
For example, the international joint project of the Lepel Centre for Correctional and Developmental Education and Rehabilitation and the Permanent Representation of Belarus in Geneva, the UN Women's Guild, is currently in its final stage. All documents have been prepared, and a foreign currency account has been opened. An official decision is pending. A sensory room with full equipment for children with disabilities will be created, a standing frame (an assistive device that allows people with disabilities and patients during rehabilitation after injury to assume an upright position to prevent negative consequences of prolonged sitting and lying) and outdoor play equipment with a set of adaptations, devices and simulators for children with disabilities will be purchased. This was reported by Oksana Lyasun, Deputy Head of the Education Department of the District Executive Committee.
As Ilya Shendalesov, Chief Physician of the Lepel Central District Hospital, stated, an application was sent in May this year to the NGO "Otklik" (for medical supplies received as humanitarian aid from America). The healthcare institution was informed that the application had been accepted. Other projects submitted to foreign diplomatic missions were also discussed at the event.
According to Viktor Vladimirovich, the main goal of the meeting was to summarise the results of the implementation of international humanitarian projects in the district. An important factor for fruitful humanitarian cooperation is the competent development of humanitarian projects. Therefore, special attention should be paid to their quality. It is important to promote the district effectively, invite representatives of international organisations and be able to interest them in co-financing humanitarian projects. It is necessary not only to develop a project but also to implement it fully.
