"An information war is underway, no longer a confrontation (I wish it were at least a confrontation). I fear that it will get worse in terms of information confrontation," the head of state emphasized.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that in this regard, people are carefully selected for positions where it is necessary to counteract relevant challenges: "We are selecting, crystallizing from society. Probably one out of thousands of people."
Characterizing Vladimir Pertsov, who has been appointed Minister of Information, the President noted that he has been observing him personally and knows him well. "We considered him for various positions. I am simply afraid that you will drown in this bureaucratic immensity. It will be a great pity for me if we lose a very good journalist, political scientist, and politician, to be frank," the head of state stated.
As for the ministerial position, the President believes that "it is a little further away from this boiling cauldron." Moreover, there is a good practical component there – subordinate economic entities. "It will be some kind of outlet at first. Well, in general, you are a young man, everything is still ahead. And I really want you to succeed in this position as a member of the government," said Alexander Lukashenko.
Speaking about the appointment of Igor Lutsky to the post of Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, the head of state noted that it was not easy to find a person who would "be engaged in organizing this process."
"A reliable person, ideologically sound, and composed. I have no doubts about that. As an organiser, you were involved in this (referring to the areas overseen in the new role, including ideology and media, as Igor Lutsky has extensive experience in leading the Ministry of Information and holding other responsible positions in the media. - BELTA's note), - the President said. - You could say, despite your age, you are a seasoned official. This is not Vladimir Borisovich; he will have to adapt here. Not even adapt – psychologically get used to joining the ranks."
Alexander Lukashenko noted that everyone in their respective positions will now have to organise the relevant processes, working in coordination: "You (Igor Lutsky. - BELTA's note), as someone who has worked in the Ministry of Information, can offer a lot of advice and suggestions. Perhaps even get involved in some issues; it's impossible without it. And Vladimir Borisovich, as one of the leading political scientists, journalists, and politicians, can lend a hand at any time within this organisational structure that you two will have to build."
