The Prosecutor's Office of Lepel District supported the prosecution in a criminal case against a resident of Lepel District who committed bicycle theft.

The District Prosecutor's Office supported the prosecution in a criminal case against a previously repeatedly convicted resident of Lepel District, born in 1971, who committed bicycle theft.

During the preliminary and judicial investigation, it was established that on 09.03.2020, a resident of the village of Zaboenye, Lepel District, for the second time, with intent to intentionally, gratuitously, unlawfully seize another's property for mercenary motives, while in a state of alcoholic intoxication, in one of the entrances of a building on Shkolnaya Street in Lepel, intentionally, by theft, secretly stole a bicycle worth 600 rubles belonging to one of the residents of the said entrance, after which he fled with the stolen property, and then sold the bicycle for 10 Belarusian rubles.

The accused committed the theft of the said bicycle in the entrance where his sister lives, returning from visiting her to his home. It is noteworthy that the citizen had previously been convicted for a similar crime in 2018, when he also committed bicycle theft from the same entrance.

By the verdict of the Lepel District Court, the accused was found guilty and, based on Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment to be served in a correctional colony under a strict regime.

This verdict of the Lepel District Court has entered into legal force.
