The Lepel District Court considered a criminal case charging a resident of the Dokshytsy District with committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 317-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The accused, having been subjected to administrative penalties by the order of the Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Dokshytsy District Department of Internal Affairs under Part 1 of Article 18.16 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus, and not having a driving license, while intoxicated, drove his Volkswagen Golf vehicle within the territories of Dokshytsy, Ushachy, and Lepel districts. While driving on a road within the Lepel District, he lost control and drove into a ditch.

According to a copy of the examination report, at the time of the examination, the accused was in a state of severe alcoholic intoxication (3.13%). Furthermore, the accused endangered the lives of at least two citizens who were passengers in his vehicle and were consuming alcohol with the driver throughout the journey.

During the court investigation, the accused pleaded guilty and requested that his car not be confiscated, as he needed it to transport his elderly mother to the city. However, during his "drunken" drive, the accused had not considered his mother.

The Lepel District Court found G. guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 317-1 and sentenced him to restriction of liberty without direction to an open correctional facility for a term of 2 years, with a fine of 130 base units (3185 Belarusian rubles) and deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for a term of 5 years. Based on Part 6 of Article 61 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, special confiscation of the Volkswagen Golf vehicle belonging to the accused was applied.
