22 April, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. The information and entertainment project "How to Spend a Weekend in Polotsk" will be implemented for the first time in the ancient Belarusian city on May 17-18, the Polotsk District Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
"A young couple from Polotsk, who are soon to be husband and wife (applications have already been submitted to the registry office), invite a couple of future newlyweds from Orsha to visit them, to spend the weekend together in Polotsk. The events and atmosphere of these days will help the young people to get to know each other better and spend time beneficially for their future unions," the district executive committee reported.
The program of the joint weekend includes a walking tour of Polotsk (monument to Komsomol members, monument to Francysk Skaryna, monument to Simeon of Polotsk, monument "Ў", Freedom Square, monument to 1812, monument to Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Red Bridge, Borisov Stone near the St. Sophia Cathedral, spring at the foot of the St. Sophia Cathedral), acquaintance with knightly arts (visit to the museum of medieval knighthood and a master class in swordsmanship), visit to the gym, a romantic dinner, and a photo session.
The project's objectives are to promote family values, psychological preparation for marriage and married life, to demonstrate a worthy example of leisure organization for youth in the most ancient hospitable city, and to attract residents of other regions of the oblast to participate in youth projects.
"Currently, fewer and fewer young people are in a hurry to tie the knot, promoting free relationships. Most often, such situations arise due to the fact that they are afraid to take responsibility for this serious step and automatically move to a new level in their relationship. The secret to a happy family life lies in clearly defined goals, a formed personality, and mutual feelings," the district executive committee is confident.
