Electoral districts in the Vitebsk region have registered initiative groups for 36 contenders for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly through signature collection, the Department of Organisational and Personnel Work of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed BELTA correspondent.
Among the citizens who submitted documents for the registration of initiative groups, eight declared their party affiliation - four applications were received from members of the Belarusian Left Party "A Just World" and the Belarusian People's Front party.
All members of the 36 registered initiative groups have corresponding certificates and signature sheets. Collectors must collect at least one thousand signatures from voters residing in the district for which the contender for deputy is nominated. In the signature sheet, the voter signs and puts the date. The nomination stage for candidates will conclude on 13 August inclusive. The registration of contenders for parliamentary seats will take place from 14 to 23 August inclusive. After that, the campaigning period will start in Belarus. The main election day is 23 September.
A total of 898 polling stations have been established in the region. Currently, nominations for work in precinct election commissions are underway. Political parties, other public associations, work collectives, as well as citizens by submitting an application, have the right to propose their representatives. This stage will last until 5 August, and no later than 8 August, the commissions will be formed and will begin to perform their duties. The formation of precinct election commissions in the region will take place at meetings of district and city executive committees with the invitation of all interested parties and media representatives.-0-
