Innovative approaches to working in the modern information space are being discussed at a training seminar that has started at the Vitebsk Region Media Centre for the chairpersons of primary organisations of trade unions of the regional organisation of the Belarusian Trade Union of Employees of State and Other Institutions.

We have invited the chairpersons of primary trade union organisations and our trade union leaders who actively manage social media to the seminar. Trade union SMM will help in organising joint trade union activities, will be useful in the work of your institutions, in creating interesting informational content, and the knowledge gained will provide a good creative impetus, – noted Elena Nefedova, chairperson of the regional organisation of trade unions of state institutions.

Opening the seminar, Elena Nefedova focused on the electoral and reporting and election campaigns.

Our trade union has actively joined the electoral campaign. We have nominated our representative to the Vitebsk Regional Election Commission, and ten members of our trade union are included in the district election commissions. The moments of your participation and preparation for the unified voting day should be covered on social media, – noted Elena Nefedova. – The second important stage is the reporting and election campaign. Throughout the next year until November 2024, reporting and election meetings of primary trade union organisations and district ones will be held, and the final event will be a plenum where the results of the five-year work will be summarised.

Anatoly Gutsulyak, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, noted that social media management is coming to the forefront today, as people get all the necessary information from the internet.

Those who work in the internet environment should know what our media space represents, which is traditionally represented primarily by radio, television, and print media. However, considering modern trends, when about 90% of Belarusians use the internet and usually get their news there, social media management is coming to the forefront, – noted Anatoly Gutsulyak. He told those present about the media space of the northern region. By the way, two online publications, 48 print, and 16 electronic media outlets operate in the Vitebsk region.
