20 June, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore is preparing innovative souvenirs for visitors. This was announced today at a press conference dedicated to the opening of the International Exhibition of Artistic Holograms "Holography-2012. Vitebsk" by the museum's director, Gleb Savitsky. In cooperation with one of the exhibition's organisers, the museum is preparing artistic holograms of its exhibits. Currently, work is underway on three holograms, one of which is a reproduction of a priceless museum exhibit – a 15th – early 16th century bone pectoral cross found during archaeological excavations in Vitebsk. According to Gleb Savitsky, if the cooperation proves mutually beneficial, the museum intends to produce other souvenir products using modern technologies. The presentation of the hologram souvenirs will take place at the exhibition opening on 29 June. The original and its holographic copy will be displayed side-by-side for visitors to compare. In total, the "Holography-2012. Vitebsk" exhibition will feature over 50 artistic holograms from 14 countries, including Australia, Great Britain, Israel, Iran, Canada, Lithuania, Portugal, Russia, Romania, the USA, Turkey, Ukraine, and France. Visitors will see several unique works with moving images. As noted by the deputy chairman of the exhibition's organising committee, Yevgeny Vedensky, a significant portion of the exhibits were created by Belarusian scientists and manufacturers, which enhances the prestige of Belarus as a country actively conducting scientific research in the most advanced and promising areas of modern science, where innovative technologies are applied and the production of science-intensive products is developing. The "Holography-2012. Vitebsk" exhibition is a continuation of the first world exhibition of artistic holograms, "Holography-2011," which was successfully held in Minsk from October to December last year. At the same time, one-third of the exhibits at the Vitebsk exhibition are new works that the Minsk public has not seen. The exhibition organisers promise that excursions will be conducted by specially trained guides, and the exhibition visit, in terms of practical information, will be akin to an introductory course in holography. The initiator of the "Holography-2012. Vitebsk" exhibition and the chairman of its organising committee is Belarusian scientist, founder of artistic and security holography in Belarus, academician of the International Academy of Engineering, and laureate of several prestigious prizes and awards, Leonid Tanin.
