On October 22, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A foreign investor plans to implement a biogas production project at the Chashniki Distillery by processing post-spirit stillage. A memorandum of intent for cooperation was signed by the director of the Chashniki enterprise and a representative of the foreign organization Live Green Org Ngo, BELTA correspondent reports. The project, worth 1.7 million euros, envisages the construction of a biogas station that will operate on industrial production waste. A comprehensive system for processing industrial waste into biogas will prevent methane emissions into the atmosphere and wastewater pollution. Processed manure, stillage, and other waste can also be used as fertilizer in agriculture, which will reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and lessen the burden on groundwater. The implementation of the project will reduce gas procurement costs by up to 30%, solve the industrial problem of waste recycling, obtain high-quality organic fertilizer, and improve the ecosystem of the city of Chashniki and the Dvina-Daugava basin. The payback period for the project is about 5 years. The investment project is presented at the II International Forum "Innovative Business - Investments of the Future," which is taking place in Vitebsk on October 21-22. The event is designed to activate cooperation processes between regions, cities, and economic entities, promote the growth of export and investment potential, facilitate the implementation of joint investment projects, and showcase innovative ideas and developments. The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee is the organizer of the business forum.
