A special interactive map called "Safe Home" has been developed in Belarus to help reduce childhood injuries. The project organisers reported to BELTA that there are no analogues to this service in the country.
The service is primarily intended for young parents and those who are planning to become parents. The map allows users to go room by room and identify potentially hazardous areas for a child within the home. In just 20-30 minutes, users can gain a better understanding of what measures to take to prevent bumps, bruises, falls, poisoning, and burns in a domestic environment. In a 3D format, by moving the mouse, users can explore all corners of the corridor, living room, nursery, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and yard. By clicking on warning icons in each of these locations, users can read a brief instruction with safety precautions and solutions to problems if they arise.
For each space explored, a simple and effective game-based test has been prepared, which will help users easily and quickly remember potentially dangerous spots.
The interactive 3D map "Safe Home" was created as part of the "Children in Safety" initiative, which is being implemented under the project "Prevention of Non-communicable Diseases, Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Support for the Modernisation of the Healthcare System in the Republic of Belarus" ("BELMED"). This project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP, WHO, UNICEF, and UNFPA in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
