"As we form a new five-year plan, we must take a good example from Soviet times. You remember, there were clearly defined facilities that would be commissioned. And funds were ironcladly allocated for these facilities. Good investments are the wealth of people and the region. We need to identify the main facilities that we will build in the future five-year plan," the President said.Speaking about foreign investment, he noted that Belarus no longer needs investments for the sake of investments. "If 10-15 years ago we talked about investments for the sake of investments, just to create jobs, we do not need such investments today. We will not build enterprises here just to employ people. Yes, jobs are needed, but the urgency is not there. Investments, construction of production facilities are needed that will bring profit. This is the main thing. Therefore, investments are not all the same," the Belarusian leader stated.
Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that many investment projects have been implemented in the country over the years of independence. In particular, China provided credit lines for billions of dollars, but they have not been fully utilized. "I will never agree to give money to someone and let them decide what to build. We need to build what is needed. The most important thing is what will bring profit and be sold on international markets," the head of state explained.
