In 2012, it is planned to allocate Br200 billion for the development and strengthening of the material and technical base of educational institutions in the Vitebsk region. This was announced today to journalists by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets. In Polotsk, the head of the region took part in the opening of a new academic building and stadium at Secondary School No. 18 named after Efrosinia Polotskaya, reports a BELTA correspondent. Along with the construction of new educational facilities, of which about 30 are to be commissioned in the region over five years, attention is also paid to the modernization of the material and technical base of existing schools. "When forming the regional budget for 2012, the possibility of allocating at least Br200 billion each for the strengthening and development of educational and healthcare facilities is being considered," noted the head of the regional executive committee. At the same time, one of the main problems in the region's education sector is small-sized schools, which account for about 28% of the total number of such institutions. In this regard, it is necessary to actively engage in the formation of the human resources potential of these educational institutions, where teachers should possess several related academic specializations. A great deal is being done in the Vitebsk region to create a high-quality, competitive education system. Thus, in Polotsk, with the commissioning of the fifth (and final) academic building and stadium, the creation of a powerful educational complex has been completed, emphasized Alexander Kosinets. All conditions have been created for obtaining a quality education, acquiring necessary skills, self-development, leisure, and physical education. Over Br22 billion of budget funds, as well as sponsorship, have been directed towards its construction. The school has 70 classrooms, including specialized ones for physics, biology, and chemistry, 56 methodological offices for all academic disciplines, and 4 computer rooms with Internet access. The new 5th building houses an assembly hall for 420 seats, rooms for labor training and aesthetic education, and a school library. The presence of three sports halls, including one with a spectator stand for 150 seats and an electronic scoreboard, contributes to the formation of a healthy lifestyle at the school. The school offers sections in football, volleyball, basketball, judo, and Greco-Roman wrestling. The school canteen for 650 seats is equipped with modern technological equipment.
