A electronics engineer from Novopolotsk, Yury Kolodny, has won the competition for the best design project of a graphic image (special symbol) for the Transnistrian ruble, which can be used in texts to briefly denote amounts in Transnistrian rubles, price tags in shops, etc., the Transnistrian Republican Bank (TRB) informed BELTA correspondent. Design projects were sent to the TRB from Transnistria, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. A total of 98 variants of the graphic image for the Transnistrian ruble were proposed. A special commission was established at the TRB to summarize the competition results. It included: the management of the Transnistrian Republican Bank, experts from FSUE "Goznak" (Moscow, Russia), and authoritative representatives of the Transnistrian design community. As reported by the TRB, the winner's project meets all aesthetic requirements. The author justified his special symbol for the Transnistrian ruble as follows: "The design of the symbol incorporates the key letters of the monetary unit (Transnistrian ruble). It also features the characteristic double stroke used to denote currencies." The competition winner will receive a cash prize of $500.
