Urgent measures to prevent negative consequences of severe frosts were discussed today at a conference call chaired by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, the head of the ideological work department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Klitsunov, told a BELTA correspondent. In particular, heads of enterprises and organizations have been instructed to take the necessary measures to maintain the temperature regime corresponding to sanitary norms in production facilities, educational, healthcare, and social protection facilities. Vitebskenergo and Vitebskoblgaz enterprises are instructed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas to consumers and to transfer emergency repair crews to round-the-clock operation. The region's road services will have to clear roads in all settlements of the region. Public transport schedules will be under strict control. The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee paid special attention to ensuring the safety of the region's residents. In particular, police officers will provide first aid to frost victims if necessary. Traffic police inspectors will organize round-the-clock duty on the roads. District emergency commissions will have to check compliance with fire safety rules at facilities with mass gatherings of people, in dormitories, and in the private sector. The focus will be primarily on lonely elderly people and families with children. As reported to BELTA by the Vitebsk Region Housing and Communal Services Department, emergency dispatch services have switched to round-the-clock operation. Dispatch services for operational management of the situation have been strengthened by responsible duty officers from among engineering and technical workers. Mobile emergency boiler houses have been put on standby. Fuel has been procured in full, which will ensure compliance with the thermal regime in residential and public premises.-0-
