This opinion was expressed to a BELTA correspondent by Stepan Burakov, a Great Patriotic War veteran and resident of Vitebsk. According to the veteran, since the beginning of this year alone, he has conducted about 20 "lessons of courage" in schools in the regional centre, during which he told teenagers about the facts of his military biography, the tragic and interesting events of the war years, and post-war life. "The children sit and listen like mice, there is no indifference in their eyes, they show the liveliest interest in this topic, they are interested in the details. It is evident that they are genuinely interested in this topic, and their opinions and statements are indicative of the patriotism of the young generations," the interviewee emphasised. Stepan Burakov celebrates Victory Day with a cheerful, good mood in the company of his loved ones and his friends, who are also war participants. "May 9th for me is a huge holiday, symbolising above all peace and tranquility in our country," the veteran noted. He also added that local authorities take the most active part in the fate of veterans and war participants. "One cannot be offended that some of us are forgotten, as there is support, and it is quite strong. And if we turn to them, they always help," the veteran stated. -0-
