The XXVII International Chagall Readings, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vitebsk People's Art School, will be held on June 15-16 in Vitebsk, the Mark Chagall Museum informed BELTA.
Researchers from Belarus, Germany, Russia, the USA, and Israel will take part in the conference. Traditionally, the reports will focus on the study of the artist's biography and creative heritage. A special feature of this year will be an in-depth examination of issues related to the activities and personalities of the Vitebsk People's Art School, founded by Marc Chagall, which admitted its first students in 1919.
The International Chagall Readings have been held in Vitebsk annually since 1991. Since 1992, they have become international. During this time, researchers from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, the USA, Israel, Germany, Latvia, and other countries have participated in the readings. Most of the materials from these readings have been published in four issues of the "Chagall Collection" and the "Bulletin of the Mark Chagall Museum."
