Voting at polling stations for the election of deputies to the fifth convocation of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus concluded at 8:00 PM on September 23, Minsk, reports BELTA correspondent. All 6,344 polling stations in Belarus have closed, and precinct commissions have begun counting votes. The elections have taken place in all 110 constituencies. Belarus operates under a majoritarian electoral system, and for the elections to be considered valid in the first round, more than 50% of citizens included in the voter lists must have participated. According to data as of 6:00 PM, voter turnout was 65.9%. A total of 7,078,809 people were included in the voter lists. A candidate for deputy will be considered the winner in the first round if they receive more than half of the votes of the voters in their constituency. 110 deputies are elected to the lower house of the Belarusian parliament. 293 candidates are vying for a seat in the fifth convocation of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly. -0-
