"You know me well, you know Belarus and Belarusians. This is not the 18th century, not 2010, and not even 2015. The Republic of Belarus is already a reality. A reality for Europe, a reality for the European Union, a reality for each of your countries. Therefore, I urge you to live, contact and interact with this reality," noted Vladimir Makei.

He acknowledged that the approaches of Belarus and various EU countries do not always and not in everything coincide. "But at the first serious trials for the formation of our country, you again immediately call for sanctions. By this, you essentially confirm the correctness of those who do not believe in our sovereign ability to build equal and mutually beneficial relations with your states," the minister pointed out.

Belarus, according to him, has already experienced the imposition of sanctions, and the country's history has not ended there. "We will go through them just like the previous ones. The result of their action is known to you. All together, we will definitely lose time. We will lose the rhythm that our countries and societies need, especially in today's fast-paced world," Vladimir Makei is confident.

He stated that Belarus is currently in a difficult situation. "But which of your countries has not gone through painful stages of national maturation? Let us go through it too. Preferably with your help, but without attempts at coercion using political, financial and other obvious levers. Please forgive me, but we cannot consider this anything other than unfriendly actions that harm the sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus, and we cannot leave them without countermeasures. But I still believe in the possibilities and prospects for normal, good-neighborly, civilized interstate relations between our countries. Because this is in the interests of everyone: Belarus, Europe, and all of Eurasia. I ask you to think about this without emotion," the minister emphasized.
