The Honoured Collective of Belarus "Musical Chamber Orchestra 'Sonorus'" conducted by Alexander Khumala will perform on the square in front of the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall. The musicians, including laureates of national and international competitions, will perform works by great composers: Vivaldi, Mozart, Fauré, Williams, and Piazzolla. Soloist of the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus Irina Kuchinskaya, accordionist Andrey Tsalko, violinist Oksana Gerasimenok, and many other performers will take part in the open-air concert.
The "Classics at the Town Hall with velcom" festival is traditionally held in Minsk and for the first time it is decided to go beyond the Belarusian capital. "velcom decided to hold the festival in Vitebsk because it is a city rightfully called a festival city," explained Nikolay Bredelev, Head of Corporate Communications Department at velcom.
The open-air classical music concert in the northern region will start at 7:00 PM and last until 10:00 PM. Guests can expect many exciting surprises and musical discoveries, and a children's play area will be organised for the little ones near the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall. The three-hour festival will be free for everyone. In addition, the concert in Vitebsk will be broadcast live on the VOKA digital television service.
The "Classics at the Town Hall with velcom" festival has been held in Minsk since 2015 and has become a true brand of the city's cultural life. This summer alone, classical music concerts in the capital attracted over 50,000 spectators, including those who followed the concerts online. Every Saturday evening from July to August, it introduces audiences to the world's classical music masterpieces and the best musical ensembles from Belarus and other countries. Many acclaimed masters have graced the festival stage. Each concert gathered 5,000-8,000 spectators in the city centre. This year, the creative forum ran from July 14 to August 25.
The organisers of "Classics at the Town Hall with velcom" in Vitebsk are the Vitebsk City Executive Committee with the support of velcom company and the state institution "Minskconcert".
