The final stage of the republican emergency services campaign "Youth for Safety" will conclude today at the Vitebsk City Centre for Additional Education for Children and Youth with an autumn ball for young rescuers and firefighters. The event will be attended by the best representatives of the youth movement from the regional centre, Novopolotsk, Orsha, and the Vitebsk district, as reported to BELTA by the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
In addition to the young rescuers, parents and educators will participate in the campaign. They will be recognised and commended by the Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Sergey Meleshkin. Veterans of the fire service will actively participate in the celebration, sharing not only their professional experience but also presenting membership cards of the Belarusian Youth Public Association of Rescuers and Firefighters to young recruits. A highlight will be the performance of creative numbers by the rescuers and firefighters, as well as a joint waltz with the veterans.
During the "Youth for Safety" campaign, which started on September 23, young rescuers and firefighters from the Vitebsk region visited veterans, disabled individuals, and elderly people living alone, providing them with patronage assistance. They also visited large families where they conducted safety training events. Furthermore, young men and women informed about the activities of the Belarusian Youth Association of Rescuers and Firefighters in social shelters, boarding schools, and educational institutions.
Every year, over 700 students from educational institutions across all regions of the Vitebsk region join the youth organisation of rescuers and firefighters. Currently, it has over 20,000 members.
