On December 22, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A drug courier from Vitebsk has been sentenced to a long term of imprisonment, the deputy head of the department for supervision of the legality of court decisions in criminal cases of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, Sergey Selikhanov, told a BELTA correspondent. In June of this year, a 20-year-old resident of the regional center came under the scrutiny of law enforcement officers on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking. Evidence of the validity of this suspicion was obtained during the detention of the young woman, who was returning with acquaintances from Smolensk. In her belongings, police officers discovered 65 g of amphetamine, which is considered a large quantity. At the time of detention, the Vitebsk resident claimed that she was carrying the narcotic substance for herself, as she had been using it for a year and a half. However, the quantity of the batch and its partial packaging into doses clearly indicated that the amphetamine was intended for distribution among other persons. For illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, the woman was sentenced under Part 3 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Belarus to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and compulsory treatment for drug addiction. The sentence has entered into legal force. -0-
