December 2, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A diabetic foot clinic is opening today in Polotsk, BELTA was informed by the Polotsk District Executive Committee.
The specialized clinic for the treatment of patients with diabetic foot syndrome is located at the Polotsk city polyclinic and is the first in the districts of the Vitebsk region. Its opening is carried out within the framework of the National Program for Demographic Security for 2011-2015, with the aim of reducing disability among the population of the Polotsk district.
The clinic is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment. The main goal of its operation is aimed at preventing the risk of cardiovascular complications and preventing severe lower limb amputations in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Currently, there are over 3,000 patients with diabetes mellitus registered in the Polotsk district, of which about 18% are diagnosed patients with angiopathy (lower limb damage). "The clinic will coordinate the work of general practitioners, endocrinologists, surgeons, and other related specialists, which will allow for the selection of an individual system for preventing complications for each of them at the early stages of the disease development," the District Executive Committee noted. -0-
