HOW TO ENSURE THE SECURITY OF A CAR ON THE RESIDENTIAL AREA TERRITORY

Year after year, the level of motorization of the population is increasing in the republic.

Unfortunately, the number of crimes related to the theft and hijacking of vehicles is also increasing.

As a rule, the largest number of car thefts and hijackings are committed in rural settlements and large cities.

Even more thefts are committed from cars, and spare parts "lead" as objects of criminal encroachment and are even more common items of theft than money and mobile phones.

This is primarily due to the relative ease of committing this type of theft, as well as the high cost of spare parts.

Cars manufactured more than 15-18 years ago are most vulnerable to theft and hijacking (about 70%), which is mainly due to the shortage of spare parts for such cars.

In 2015 alone, 2 thefts and 2 hijackings of vehicles were committed in the town of Lepel and Lepel district.

In addition, cases where parked cars are damaged as a result of hooligan actions are not uncommon.

The prevalence of all these crimes is directly related to the storage of vehicles by their owners on their home territory.

A few simple tips, the implementation of which costs nothing, but will help you avoid trouble:

1. Do not leave keys in the car;
2. Before leaving, check that the car doors and windows are securely closed;
3. If you need to leave the car overnight, choose a well-lit, visible, and populated area;
4. Do not leave your car in vacant lots or areas with dense vegetation;
5. To enhance your car's security, install an additional power source for the anti-theft alarm, preventing criminals from disabling the sound system;
6. Install a hidden valve to shut off fuel supply from the fuel tank;
7. Do not leave conspicuous documents and valuables in the car's interior; it is better to take them home, or at least cover them;
8. Affix a sticker to the window stating that the car is protected by an anti-theft device (without specifying its name), which may deter criminals from targeting it;
9. Use special nuts and bolts to secure the wheels, making them difficult to remove by conventional means; the increased time required for wheel removal is undesirable for criminals;
10. Equip your car with at least one security device (statistics show that cars without security devices are stolen most frequently);
