How to become a rescuer?

Current eleventh-graders have only a few weeks left to decide on their future path. Those who have decided to dedicate their lives to the profession of a rescuer are invited by the Civil Protection University (CPU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk.

The University provides training in the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations" (male students only) and in the specialty "Fire and Industrial Safety" (male and female students). Admission requires Centralized Testing (CT) certificates in Mathematics, Physics, and the Russian (Belarusian) language. The duration of full-time study is 4 years. Prior to admission, all candidates must undergo professional selection, which includes: conducting special checks, assessing moral and business qualities, medical examination by a military medical board, and determining the candidates' physical fitness level.

The advantage of studying at the CPU of the MES is that all cadets are provided with accommodation, meals, uniforms, state insurance, and medical care, as well as a monthly allowance (averaging around 300 Belarusian rubles). During their studies, cadets have the opportunity to learn practical driving and obtain a category "B" driver's license. Graduates receive the officer rank of "lieutenant of the internal service" and are guaranteed employment. In most cases, graduates are assigned to their place of residence or the nearest subdivisions.

Applicants who do not pass the competitive selection for state-funded places can participate in the competition for full-time study on a fee-paying basis.

The Specialized Lyceum at the Civil Protection University of the MES of Belarus in Gomel prepares students for admission to higher education institutions. Young men who have completed the 6th grade are admitted here. The duration of study is 5 years (from the 7th to the 11th grades) with round-the-clock accommodation.

Lyceum students are fully supported by the state (uniforms, five meals a day, accommodation, medical care). The Lyceum has a unique educational, training, and material and technical base: academic and dormitory buildings, sports halls, a gym, wrestling halls, and a 25-meter swimming pool. Graduates

of the lyceum, provided that the marks in the certificate are 7 points or higher, have the right to enter higher education institutions of law enforcement agencies without passing the Centralized Testing.

Entrance examinations to the Lyceum are mathematics, Russian (Belarusian) language. Admission is based on competition according to the total score obtained. Those with legally provided benefits are admitted out of competition, provided they receive marks of at least 4 points in the entrance examinations, in the order of priority.

For those who did not enter the Ministry of Emergency Situations University, a good choice would be to enter Polotsk State Chemical-Technological College for the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations", with a full-time study period of 2 years and 7 months on a state-funded basis. Young men aged 17 to 25 with a general secondary education certificate are accepted. Dormitory accommodation is provided to all in need.

College graduates receive the vocational qualification of "rescuer-firefighter" and are employed in emergency management bodies and units in positions of enlisted and junior command staff. Upon graduation from college, graduates have the right to enter the Ministry of Emergency Situations University for a shortened part-time study program (study period of 3 years).

To form the application file for admission to the above-mentioned educational institutions (Ministry of Emergency Situations University, Specialized Lyceum at the Ministry of Emergency Situations University, Polotsk State Chemical-Technological College), you need to contact the district (city) department for emergency situations at your place of residence before May 1st. They will answer all your questions. Ministry of Emergency Situations employees recommend not waiting until the specified date and applying earlier.
