Thus, over 2.3 million rubles will be allocated from the national budget for measures to prevent the import and spread of the infection caused by the coronavirus COVID-19, including over 143 thousand rubles in the form of an intergovernmental transfer to the consolidated budget of the Vitebsk region. This decision is enshrined in Resolution of the Council of Ministers of March 21, 2020, No. 163.
The public at the local level has also not remained indifferent. For example, the Vitebsk regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation will transfer 3 thousand rubles to the regional infectious disease hospital, which will be used to purchase personal protective equipment for healthcare professionals.
– Within the framework of implementing our key programmes "Memory" and "Care" and events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, we are directing the main part of the funds raised this year to the improvement of sites associated with immortalising the memory of the victims of fascism, defenders of the Fatherland, as well as equipping wards for veterans and disabled individuals of the Great Patriotic War at the Yurtsevo Regional War Veterans Hospital, the regional hospital, and other medical institutions in the region. However, considering the current epidemiological situation, we decided to allocate part of the funds to assist in the fight against coronavirus infection. This is a common cause that requires a contribution from each of us, – said Tatiana Tumanova, Chairperson of the regional branch of the BPF.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Health has opened a special charitable account to support sanitary and anti-epidemic measures and public health protection. This decision was prompted by appeals received by the Ministry from citizens, enterprises, organisations, and representatives of private businesses, expressing their initiative to provide sponsorship assistance to the healthcare system during this challenging period. The account has been opened at the state institution "Republican Centre for Medical Response Organisation". Charitable funds will be allocated according to the needs of specific healthcare institutions and will be used for the procurement of protective equipment for medical personnel, test systems, medicines, and other essential items.
According to official data from the Ministry as of March 27, there were 62 patients under medical supervision and treatment for coronavirus in the republic, and 32 individuals who previously tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged or are preparing for discharge.
