What New Year's events will take place in Vitebsk, and how the city is preparing for the holiday were discussed at the Vitebsk Region Media Centre.

Preparations and organisation of New Year's festive events in Vitebsk were discussed at a press conference held at the Vitebsk Region Media Centre.

– A number of festive New Year's events are planned in Vitebsk. On December 13, at 6:00 PM, the central Christmas tree of the regional centre will be lit up on Victory Square, followed by the traditional procession of Father Frosts and Snow Maidens, fairytale characters, as well as a festive performance for the citizens and guests of the city, and a city lottery draw, – said Viktor Glushin, Deputy Chairman of the City Executive Committee. – Christmas tree lighting ceremonies will also take place in the city's residential areas. In Zheleznodorozhny District – on December 13 at 4:00 PM in the square on Kirov Street, in Oktyabrsky District – on December 17 at 3:30 PM in "Studenchesky" square, in Pervomaisky District – on December 20 at 4:00 PM in the area near the Ice Palace. On December 16, the republican campaign "Our Children" will start. On this day, a regional festive event for children from all over the region will be held in Vitebsk.

From December 26, 2024, to January 15, 2025, the New Year's charity event "From the Bottom of Our Hearts" for the elderly will be held. Large-scale events on Victory Square and in residential areas will take place on December 25, January 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 2025. On Victory Square on New Year's Eve, from 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM, a New Year's programme and a festive fireworks display will be held. From December 16, 2024, to January 8, 2025, the New Year's musical adventure "Miracles Without Magic" will be held in the auditorium of the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall, and from December 17, 2024, to January 2, 2025 – the New Year's fairytale game "Karabas Barabas vs. New Year". – After the New Year, Vitebsk will host the traditional festival of spiritual music, scheduled for January 7-8, as well as the VI International Festival-Competition "Art Parade in Vitebsk", – announced the Deputy Chairman of the City Executive Committee.

Vitebsk's retail outlets are actively preparing for the New Year's holiday.

– Two New Year's promotions to promote domestic products will be held in Vitebsk, offering a double discount from the manufacturer and supplier. The discount size will be up to 45%, – noted Tatiana Prokopenko, Head of the Trade and Services Department of the City Executive Committee. – An extended sale of domestic perfumery and cosmetic products is also planned. More than 150 product items have already been declared for this promotion. New Year's gift sets for children will also be actively sold, with prices starting from 9 rubles. New Year trees will be sold at 16 locations, with prices starting from 12 rubles. A Christmas fair will be held on December 21 on Lenin Street opposite the Town Hall, where catering facilities and retail outlets of the city will present their products. From December 10, 2024, to January 14, 2025, festive trade, food trucks, mini-attractions, an ice rink (weather permitting), and photo zones will be organised on Victory Square. Craft fairs will be held in large shopping centres. In the TRC "TRIO", handmade items will be available for purchase on December 21-22, and in the TC "Green" – from December 21 to 29, where designers and craftspeople will also present their goods.
