What are the construction plans for the current year? How much housing is planned to be built, and how much commercial real estate? And when, finally, will we have a serious discussion about industrial construction in Lepel? I addressed these and other questions to the Head of the Architecture and Construction Department of the District Executive Committee, Natallia Kliashtornaya.

Driving along Savetskaya Street, I notice the construction underway near the former center of children's creativity. New floors of a multi-apartment residential building are rising above the fence there – a 40-apartment building, to be precise. Construction began in February, and it is planned to be commissioned in October. In total, 2266 square meters of area are planned to be commissioned at this facility. Workers from PMK-75 are mainly working there, with workers from other construction organizations and enterprises engaged under subcontract agreements. Previously, the financial situation was different; the state budget could provide significant financial support. In recent years, it has significantly decreased, and now citizens should rely more on their own efforts and finances. On the other hand, as a reminder, another 40-apartment building is being constructed on Kalinina Street with the funds of Chinese investors. So, we will have 80 apartments by the end of the year.

We should not overlook individual housing construction either. Believe me, in terms of overall volume, it is comparable to, if not greater than, shared equity multi-apartment construction. For example, not long ago, we published information about plots available for development behind AS-33, on the site of the former driving school. As of today, 24 out of 28 plots are already occupied, and many owners have begun developing the design and estimate documentation.

Speaking of prospects, I would like to note that we have some projects. For instance, in the summer, we plan to begin the construction of two more 40-apartment buildings on Savetskaya Street, near the one already under construction. The site allows for it, and the utilities are in place as well.

In summer, we will also focus on rural settlements. There is a demand for housing construction in Borovka: military units are being deployed, the "Zhemchuzhina" rehabilitation center is expanding, and new commercial enterprises are opening. Workers and staff need housing. In this settlement, we plan to start the construction of a 60-apartment residential building in the summer.

A 12-apartment residential building is planned to be laid in Domzheritsy. All the mentioned buildings are scheduled for commissioning next year, in 2019.

Lepel residents can see that the construction of a shop on Chuykov Street, between the "Zapasca" auto center and the "Santalina" shop, is in full swing. A shop of the "Evroopt" chain is expected to open here by the end of the year. It will include warehouse premises, retail areas, and a small parking lot for cars, as far as the adjacent area allows.

Speaking of prospects, I will mention that an investment agreement for the construction of a shop with the "Santa Retail" chain is being prepared for the current year. It is planned to erect a shop with a retail area of about 400 square meters at the intersection of Voykov Street and M. Gorky Street... "Santa Retail" is a chain of grocery stores operating throughout Belarus. Those interested can find information about it online; as far as I remember, they specialize in trading products from "Santa Bremor" and "Savushkin Product" companies. However, they also offer other consumer goods. Behind the shop, the construction of another 60-apartment residential building is planned. True, we plan to lay its foundation in the second half of next year, 2019, and commission it in 2020. This is a more distant prospect.
